Well Being

We live in an ever-changing world. Young people will need to overcome obstacles in all aspects of life, including challenges that no previous generation has faced before. Therefore, young people must be resilient and maintain healthy wellbeing.
Our Well being activities empower students to become leaders in promoting wellness. The primary goal is for students to prioritise self-care and enhance their own well-being. We believe that this positive change will lead to healthier young people who are better equipped to support others and actively participate in their family, school and communities.

Year 7-10

Stress less

This programme is led in class. It is the length of a class period.

Not all stress is bad! Sometimes it helps us get going and achieve things. Stress is part of our life, so learning to manage stress is the key to living well. In this session, young people will learn to recognise stress and learn easy and practical ways to cope before it overwhelms them.

All ages

Wellbeing retreat

This retreat seeks to provide a space for students to slow down, regather and reconnect with themselves and others. Throughout the retreat young people will be equipped with new tools, and easy ways to deal with life challenges and demands.

All ages

Assembly presentations

We have a range of short 10-15 minute presentations to promote young people's positive wellbeing. These presentations are energising, relevant and encourage young people to tackle life's challenges with resiliency and hope.

Year 12-13

Wellbeing advisory group

Meets regularly throughout the Term at Whānau Maria (Logos Centre).

This group is for Year 11 - 13 students from the various catholic colleges who are passionate about wellbeing and keen advocates championing positive mental health. They meet face to face three times a year to share their perspectives and experiences. Their insights help inform and shape our work. Young people will benefit from leadership formation and growing connections with students from other schools.

"Being a part of the inaugural Logos advisory group for 2021 was a fantastic experience. Not only was I able to use my knowledge and life experiences to potentially help others facing mentally tough times, but also was able to forge connections with many inspiring people and greatly enjoying my time with them. As always, everyone involved with the Logos community was a pleasure to work with and I'm sure they will do their best to put everyone's suggestions to the best use they can."

FEEDBACK

"As a teacher in Catholic schools I have had a long association with Logos, my relationship with them is a significant one so when I moved to Sacred Heart Girls' College in Hamilton I took Logos with me! Due to distance, our connection is not as frequent but it is still significant. For the past few years, we the Logos team have run 2 retreats each year, a junior retreat and our Year 12 Leadership retreat plus we connect with the Salt and Light retreat in January of each year. Our Yr 12 leadership Retreat is a 3 day, 2-night event and for many students, it is a highlight of their school experience. For me, it is incredibly important that the retreat team is a New Zealand team, a team that reflects the diversity in our community and a team that lives and breathes being Catholic in today's world. I have been beyond thrilled to have ex-students in the team and to also see people with a long term commitment to Logos. I have known the Logos leadership team for nearly 20 years and completely trust them as faith-filled community with integrity and a sound understanding of our rangatahi. We look forward to continuing our long association." Susan Brebner
